Advisor to the United Kingdom’s department of health and a great promoter of patient safety, SLIPS (Safety and Leadership in Interventional Procedures in Surgery) concept. I followed him since 1996 when he was working in the Royal Surrey County Hospital and later in Kings College Hospital. I was bought into his philosophy for patient safety and not only learned the principals but taught those in all my courses, MSc Minimal Invasive surgery in University of Kent and internationally. It is an obvious but seldom practiced concept in theatres. The sooner the medical world will adopt these concepts, the better and safer their practices will be in the hospitals and especially operating theatres.
